Ask the salesperson to show you a formal document that shows what they are selling and how much it is. - Shred receipts. These days, most companies do not print full credit card numbers on the receipts. If they do, help the elder shred all that has this number in plain sight for scammers to see.
- Remove their name from multiple lists. If your loved one is being pestered at home with telemarketers calling at all hours, they need to sign up for the “Do Not Call List.” Also, if they are receiving “junk mail” in their inbox or mailbox, they need to remove themselves from these subscription lists.
